I didn't see a thread for making suggestions so I thought I'd start this one.

One of my pet peeves is poor communication skills, such as using acronyms and assuming everyone knows what they mean. So, I'd like to make the suggestion that a thread be created just for acronyms or general IM (internet marketing) jargon that us "newbies" can go to and learn the lingo without having to sound ignorant by asking "what does 'cpa' mean?", etc.

I was reading an ebook recommended on this forum called 0_to_1000_per_day.pdf and found some jargon that I wasn't familiar with and while it's easy enough to go to Google and do a quick search on the terms, I thought it might be helpful to have a resource on this site where members could turn to.

Chris,

Welcome to Unemployment Killer!

I created the Newbie Lounge so people who are new to the internet marketing game can discuss and ask questions.

I agree with you, I can remember when I first started out I had the same issue. This is a great idea and we can help out a lot of newbies looking to understand the "IM" lingo.

I'll start it off with a few:

CPA = Cost Per Action - This is an advertising model where an advertiser pays affiliates for a pre-specified action such as a purchase or signing up for a newsletter etc.

CPM = Cost Per Mille - This is another type of advertising where the advertiser pays for every thousand impressions of their ad.

ROI = Return on Investment - This one speaks for itself, basically your revenues - advertising costs = profit or ROI.

Lets get some more acronyms for people new to the game...

Hi!

I just joined this site and I'm one of this newbies on IM. I have worked with sales and marketing for years but IM is a bit different for me.
